A PREFECT DAY

1 Oct 2007
A WEALTH of activities to build team building, bonding, trust and observation skills were part of an action packed day enjoyed by 32 student's from St Mark's Church of England Academy at Toc H's centre in Rickmansworth last week.

The year 11 pupils were participating in a Prefects Training Day which covered topics that are the key elements and principles of being a Prefect. This included leadership, respect and disrespect, role models, responsibility, consequences and choices, recognising need and acting on it.

The students, who had expected classroom activities, were delighted with the outdoor element which included demonstrating their tent erecting skills.

All of the participating students were presented with an information pack and a Toc H Certificate of Achievement and St Mark's Principal, Mrs Louise V Ceska, arrived to present the students with their Prefect Lanyards.

Charmaine Walters, Toc H National Youth Development Officer, said: "This was the first in a series of training days working with the young people from St Mark's Acadamy and they have all expressed their enjoyment at the hands-on aspect of the course. We hope that they feel empowered by this training and will be able to take the valuable skills they have learned and implement them in their new roles as Prefects."
