ACTION-PACKED FUN FOR BEECHDALE YOUNGSTERS

24 Jul 2007
Children and young people from Beechdale Estate in Walsall are enjoying an action-packed start the school summer holidays thanks to national charity Toc H and Beechdale Community Housing Association (BCHA).

An extensive programme of activities including football, dance, outings to seaside resort Rhyl and Alton Towers has been put into place by Toc H's qualified youth workers, who will also be on hand throughout the two-week period. The first activity – a visit to Blythe Waters at Knowle where children were instructed in the art of fishing - was a huge success with one child catching 28 fish.

Ray Elks, Toc H regional development officer said: “Toc H encourages social inclusion and particularly invests in young people by empowering them and providing opportunities to encourage their personal development. We hope that this scheme is the first of many in partnership with BCHA and the residents of Beechdale.”

The programme, which runs until Friday 3rd August, still has places available and is open to all children and young people from the Beechdale Estate. Activities are just £1 and trips £2 per person. Please call Ray Elks on 07917 686851 for more information.
