Asylum Seekers Share Their Experiences6 Nov 2006 |

| The Refugee and Asylum Seekers Advice Project (RASAP) hosted a successful Toc H Tea and Cake event in Leicester recently, organised by Gill Jackson, Leicester Church of England director of social responsibility. More than 15 asylum seekers attended, together with people from different churches who had never met asylum seekers before. Cakes from different countries were served, baked by various participants. Gill said: “The visitors from the churches were very moved by the experience and learned much about the lives of asylum seekers. As a consequence of this day, one of the churches has become more involved in asylum issues and is now hosting informal discussion events between asylum seekers and members of their own congregation.” |  |
