Ex-Corrie Star Visits Toc H Nursery

7 Feb 2008
ACTRESS Jennifer James spent the morning with children at Toc H Brighter Beginnings Oakenclough Nursery in Wilmslow today.

The star of TV shows such as Coronation Street and Dalziel and Pascoe, spent the day working alongside nursery staff and joined the children in their games and activities including singing, finger painting and reading stories.

Jennifer is supporting the Department for Children, Schools and Families ‘Working in Early Years. It's not just child's play'; recruitment campaign which aims to encourage more people to consider working in the Early Years and Childcare Sector. It is estimated that thousands of people need to be recruited to work in the sector to support the expansion of childcare services.

Jennifer James, said, “Working with the children at the nursery was such an eye opener. I knew it would be challenging but I didn't realise it would be quite so rewarding. As a parent, I know how important it is that our children are given the best possible start in life and Early Years and childcare has a remarkable and enduring impact on a child's life.

“I have seen for myself that an incredible amount of planning, forethought and dedication is required to work with nursery children and the role of an Early Years worker is key to setting a blue print for our future generations. If you want to make a difference and contribute to society, I can't imagine anything more worthwhile than working with young children.”
