KEMPSTON CELEBRATES 25 YEARS9 Oct 2006 |
|
| The rebirth of Toc H in the Bedford area 25 years ago was recently celebrated at a party organised by Kempston branch. The Mayor of Kempston and two members of Bedford County Council joined 80 guests from the local community and nearby branches of Toc H for lunch and talks. The new Bedford branch was formed by Jack and Pat Turner in 1981 and was so successful that three years later Kempston area split to form its own branch. Although the Bedford branch closed in 2001, Kempston continues to thrive and serve the local community. The branch runs several projects including taking up to 200 disadvantaged youngsters from the area to Great Yarmouth and it also runs Toc H';s sole remaining charity shop in England. | ![]() |
