| Toc H has announced Mary Rance as its new Chief Executive Officer. Mary has been Deputy Chief Executive of Toc H since 2005 and has been closely involved in developing the charity's future plans. Before joining Toc H, Mary worked as a Director of the Confederation of British Industry in the London Region. In this role she worked with senior industrialists in member companies to represent their interests to national and local government, developing policy initiatives covering a range of issues and raising substantial levels of membership and sponsorship income. “Toc H has undergone considerable change, particularly in the last year, and leading the charity through its next phase of development is an exciting and challenging prospect,” said Mary. “Our focus for the future is to develop our work with partner organisations to deliver successful youth initiative programmes, expand family support services and provide training and services to communities through our centres throughout the country.” In its beginnings, the purpose of Toc H, founded by Rev ‘Tubby' Clayton during the First World War, was to provide friendship and equality to soldiers fighting on the front line. Members of Toc H continued and developed this initiative in its work with communities throughout the UK, and in many other countries, ever since. Today, Toc H continues to strive to bring all sectors of society together, regardless of culture, religion or race. It believes in the development of young people, aiming to make the world a more understanding place, to encourage acceptance and remove judgement and prejudice from our society. This purpose is expressed through Toc H';s innovative local project work which includes youth mentoring schemes, youth activity and educational programmes, training, family support and community cohesion campaigns. | ![]() |
